Software Developer - Handset

The Handset Product Integration Team at RTX is looking for a new embedded software developer.

Our team is responsible for developing, adapting, and maintaining handset products for our Enterprise DECT voice communication systems. Our products are used anywhere from small shops with a few handsets to large hospital sites with thousands of handsets. Our customers rely on us to provide high quality solutions, with a flexibility unmatched by other mobile offerings.

We develop our products from our own proprietary solution, from the OS to the application software. We can modify almost every aspect of our products inhouse by utilizing our domain experts. This also means that you will get to work in many different domains when doing product integration and your working day will be varied.

As part of our team, you will share the responsibility for the full software lifecycle of our handset products. You will be developing new products, as well as extending existing products with new functionality, to give our customers a competitive advantage. You will be ensuring product quality through automatic testing and maintenance bug fixing.

To carry this responsibility, our ideal candidate has these soft skills:

  • Team player. Our products are made through the collaboration between many colleagues and teams. You have the drive to ask and discuss topics that are necessary for you or the team to finish our projects on time.
  • Self-driven.  You can drive your assigned tasks from start to finish. You resolve impediments, unclear requirements, or problematic code using your skills and the knowledge of the team. Tasks are done when they are done.
  • Keen Learner. Our code base is complex. Our products contain many features, product adaptations for customers, as well as backend systems and interfaces. You see this as an interesting challenge that needs to be conquered.

In addition, our ideal candidate has these technical skills as well:

  • BS/MS in Electronics or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other related experience.
  • In-depth experience with C/C++, additionally knowledge of Python/C# is a plus.
  • Experience with L2 / L3 customer support.
  • Experience working with and developing embedded platforms and application layer software.
  • Experience with test-driven development, software testing, and debugging.
  • Experience with bug tracking (Jira or other) and source code management tools (Git or Mercurial).
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (Jenkins or similar build systems).
  • Experience with small GUI frameworks and embedded sensors is a plus.
  • Embedded RTOS experience is a plus.
  • Good English written and verbal communication skills.
